QR Garden Ribbon Cutting
On Wednesday, October 1, students, staff, and parents celebrated their new garden with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event was absolutely joyous. The garden was relocated to the large interior courtyard, breathing new life into an amazing outdoor space. A big thank you to our partners at Kaleidoscope Garden Designs, the QR PTA, Principal Gil and Assistant Principal Hefner, and the QR students, parents, faculty, and staff for making this possible!
NYS Adopts Portrait of a Graduate
New York State recently adopted a Portrait of a Graduate as part of NY Inspires, a multiyear phase in of revised graduation measures that be fully implemented for the cohort of students starting high school in 2029. The State Education Department has produced a brief Parent Need-to-Know document to introduce the Portrait. SHS will be examining the Portrait this year in the context of our own Profile of an SHS Graduate.
Bookmark Our Bond Page
We have established a dedicated page to capture documents, videos, presentations, and other information related to the development of a potential capital projects bond referendum in 2026. Please bookmark the page and visit it often as we engage the public and seek feedback about a potential scope of work.
Global Citizenship
Four SHS student ambassadors and teacher Heather Waters recently returned from a successful Round Square International Conference in Dubai. Alongside students from 155 schools located in 28 different countries, our delegation enjoyed keynotes by Laksh Maheshwari and Sanjeev Krishna, leadership discussions, and cultural connections centered on the Round Square Discovery Framework. Thank you to our ambassadors for representing SHS!
